New Years 20112014 was an interesting year for both myself personally, and for Endress|Analytics as a whole.

On the personal side, my husband quit his job as an electrical engineer, started his own company ( and went back to school for an MSBA in Financial Risk Management. He also passed the Series 65 certification exam in 2014, which will help to ensure that the work he does with his business is all within regulatory compliance (the finance industry being one of the most regulated industries in the United States).

In 2014, I saw a huge increase in demand for content management systems, and I’ve worked on Google Tag Manager, Ensighten and Adobe Digital Tag Manager projects this year. It’s also a skillset I have brought on board with my subcontractors as well. I’ve really expanded the scope of our Google Analytics capabilities in every aspect – from implementation to reporting and recommendations, and everything in between. I personally am still specializing in Adobe Analytics, while my subcontractors these days tackle most of the Google Analytics projects. They have done some really excellent work for my organization this year.

Certified_Expert_Analytics_Reports_Analytics_2013_badge This year I also finally opted to get certified as well, and I now hold two certifications from Adobe. I am an Adobe Certified Expert in Reports & Analytics, and as an Analytics Business Practitioner. For a long time I thought that my years of experience, along with my MS in Technical Communication would be enough to get by in this industry. I’ve since discovered that certifications are highly valued by some clients, and it has meant the difference between
winning or losing business for my company. I am now deciding if I should also go for the Google Analytics certification, or the more tool agnostic Digital Analytics Association certification instead.

After receiving my certification, it’s opened a lot of doors that had previously been closed and I’ve managed to win business from clients that I’d been hoping to win for a long time now. If current trends continue, I believe 2015 will be a momentous year for Endress|Analytics. I am hoping to be able to expand my subcontractor base in 2015 and get to a point where at least 50% of all business is being completed by those subcontractors. I still love the work and I cannot see myself ever stepping back from it entirely, but I would love to be able to step back enough so that I can focus more on the growth of the business and somewhat less on completing most of the work. I think everything is very well poised for that to happen in 2015.

In addition, some other areas of expertise I am hoping to bring to our team in 2015 would be focused on visualization with Tableau, more content management system expertise with Tealium, Ensighten, Google Tag Manger and Adobe DTM.

Naturally I will be attending Adobe Summit in 2015, and this year will mark my 10th Anniversary in attending the Adobe Summit (it was still called the Omniture Summit in 2005, which was also the last year that they held the entire Summit at a ski resort – how times have changed!). So much has happened, both in this industry, and in my own career, since 2005. I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years brings!
